Recordings of the performances listed on this site have been donated to
Music Preserved and may be listened to at the listening
centres in the Barbican Music Library and Jerwood Library of Performing Arts
at Trinity College of Music.
Music Preserved was founded as the Music Performance Research Centre in 1987. It
was established as a registered charity (no. 296895) and a company limited by
guarantee (no. 2129867).
Music Preserved became a viable public archive in 1989 when the Department of
Trade and Industry designated it as a body for which a recording (or copies of a
recording) of an unencrypted broadcast or cable programme could be made without
infringing copyright in the broadcast or cable programme or any work or
performance included in that transmission. Music Preserved continues to be a
designated archive under The Copyright (Recording for Archives of
Designated Class of Broadcasts and Cable Programmes) (Designated Bodies) (No. 2)
Order 1989 and as amended in 1993.
Music
Preserved provides a reference service only and cannot grant permissions for
other usages of the recordings listed on this site. All
rights in the performances and works and in any associated literary works that
are stored in the archive are reserved to the owners of the copyright in such
works.
